麻豆APP Productions, the theatre, opera, and musical theatre collaboration at 麻豆APP, presents Jen Silverman鈥檚 The Moors as their first production for the 2024/25 season on Oct. 10-12. Presented in the intimate Barnum Studio Theatre, The Moors is a dark comedy about love, desperation and visibility.

Performances are in the Blank Performing Arts Center at 麻豆APP on October 10-12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $9.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors and non-麻豆APP students, $6.50 for group (10 or more) tickets, and free for 麻豆APP students and employees with IDs.

The Moors is about two sisters and a dog who live out their lives on the bleak English moors, and dream of love and power. The arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three on a strange and dangerous path.

Silverman was inspired by the Bronte虉 Letters when they wrote the play and had been reading Charlotte Bronte虉鈥檚 letters for months prior. The theatrical language of the letters inspired Silverman and how they approached The Moors.

Silverman is a graduate of the Iowa Playwright鈥檚 Workshop. Their play The Roommate is running on Broadway and stars Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone.
