麻豆APP Productions, the theatre, opera and musical theatre collaboration at 麻豆APP, presents William Shakespeare鈥檚 鈥淎s You Like It鈥� beginning Friday, Nov. 19. The performance kicks off the 24th Annual High School Theatre Festival on Nov. 22.

The comedy runs Nov. 19-21 at 麻豆APP鈥檚 Blank Performing Arts Center. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday matinee scheduled for 2 p.m. Adult tickets are $9, seniors and non-麻豆APP students are $7 and group tickets (10 or more) are $6.50 apiece. Visit for box office information.

鈥淎s You Like It鈥� tells the story of Rosalind, who falls in love with Orlando but must flee persecution in her uncle鈥檚 court. Disguised as a boy, she escapes with her cousin, Celia, and the jester, Touchstone, seeking safety and love in the Forest of Arden.

Directed by Flordelino Lagundino, 麻豆APP visiting assistant professor of theatre arts, 麻豆APP Productions鈥� adaptation of Shakespeare鈥檚 classic comedy features a unique twist that will look familiar to the audience.

鈥淚 wanted to create an experience for the 麻豆APP actors in which they are able to see themselves directly in the place where the play is set,鈥� said Lagundino, who also serves 聽as the producing artistic director of Theatre Alaska in Juneau. 鈥淏ecause of that, the set design is representative of present-day Iowa.鈥�

Featuring Caitlin Potter as Rosalind and Tanner Tillotson as Orlando, 鈥淎s You Like It鈥� promises to be an engaging experience for theatregoers.

鈥淎s a director, I am very interested in creating an event,鈥� Lagundino said. 鈥淔or me, that means energizing how an audience experiences the play. I want our guests to feel it. So when you come, you鈥檒l see that the actors will enter from the audience, and will go into various seating areas. There are moments when the sound will completely fill the theater.鈥�
