Ā鶹APP Productions presents Shakespeare’s ā€˜As You Like It’

Ā鶹APP company’s second performance of the season runs Nov. 19-21

Ā鶹APP Productions, the theatre, opera and musical theatre collaboration at Ā鶹APP, presents William Shakespeare’s ā€œAs You Like Itā€ beginning Friday, Nov. 19. The performance kicks off the 24th Annual High School Theatre Festival on Nov. 22.

The comedy runs Nov. 19-21 at Ā鶹APP’s Blank Performing Arts Center. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday matinee scheduled for 2 p.m. Adult tickets are $9, seniors and non-Ā鶹APP students are $7 and group tickets (10 or more) are $6.50 apiece. Visit for box office information.

ā€œAs You Like Itā€ tells the story of Rosalind, who falls in love with Orlando but must flee persecution in her uncle’s court. Disguised as a boy, she escapes with her cousin, Celia, and the jester, Touchstone, seeking safety and love in the Forest of Arden.

Directed by Flordelino Lagundino, Ā鶹APP visiting assistant professor of theatre arts, Ā鶹APP Productions’ adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic comedy features a unique twist that will look familiar to the audience.

ā€œI wanted to create an experience for the Ā鶹APP actors in which they are able to see themselves directly in the place where the play is set,ā€ said Lagundino, who also serves Ā as the producing artistic director of Theatre Alaska in Juneau. ā€œBecause of that, the set design is representative of present-day Iowa.ā€

Featuring Caitlin Potter as Rosalind and Tanner Tillotson as Orlando, ā€œAs You Like Itā€ promises to be an engaging experience for theatregoers.

ā€œAs a director, I am very interested in creating an event,ā€ Lagundino said. ā€œFor me, that means energizing how an audience experiences the play. I want our guests to feel it. So when you come, you’ll see that the actors will enter from the audience, and will go into various seating areas. There are moments when the sound will completely fill the theater.ā€
